Orthopaedic Product Development Engineer
Schwartz Biomedical, LLC is located in Fort Wayne and is an entrepreneurial organization focused on tissue engineering and the rapid development of implants and related instruments for orthopaedics. We are currently seeking a product development engineer to become part of our team and to grow with our company.
A successful candidate must possess an internal drive and willingness to complete all tasks related to design and development including,
• Conceptualize novel product systems and components based on engineering fundamentals.
• Create CAD models/drawings and procure prototypes for design evaluation.
• Interface with clinical advisors through conference calls, clinical visits, and cadaver labs.
• Assist with creation and release of product requirements and design specifications.
• Perform and document mechanical testing, risk analyses, FEA, tolerance stacks, etc.
• Support design transfer to manufacturing by identifying and communicating with suppliers.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent. 2 to 5 years experience in the design and development of medical implants and instruments (arthroscopic or endoscopic products a plus). Experience creating 3D CAD models and detailed part drawings (ProE experience a plus). Experience designing parts for injection molding and micromachining. Familiarity with the FDA QSR and design control practices. Candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and should have a preference for medical device design.
